Mens Mental Health
Men’s Mental Health Matters
One of my passions is supporting men who are struggling with grief and anger.
After more than 30 years of working in plumbers and builders merchants, industries traditionally dominated by men, I’ve seen first-hand that mental health struggles don’t discriminate. Whether it's anxiety, depression, grief, anger, or relationship issues, men face the same, emotional challenges women do, often with the weight of additional responsibilities and pressures.
Many men still feel hesitant to seek help, often wondering why they could cope before but can't now. You might be thinking, "I don't know where to start," or "Talking won't fix anything." But talking is the first step and it can make a real difference. A recent survey by NHS London found that 92% of men said that talking therapy had helped them.
If you’re ready to take that step, to talk things through with someone who understands, I’m here to support you. My counselling approach is straightforward, non-judgemental, and grounded in real-life experience.
Your mental health is just as important as everyone else's.

Estranged Adult Children
Support for Adult Children Estranged from Parents
Are you an adult child estranged from a parent or parents? If so, I want to acknowledge just how painful, complex, and isolating that experience can be. Family estrangement is a deeply personal and emotional issue, one that is often misunderstood and rarely talked about.
As a qualified counsellor with both professional and personal experience of family estrangement, I understand the difficult emotions you're carrying. You may feel grief, guilt, anger, loneliness, or even a deep sense of shame. Please know this: estrangement is never a decision made lightly, and you will never be judged by me.
At Elbee Counselling, I provide a safe, non-judgemental space where your autonomy is always respected. They are your parents and it is your life and your choice and I will always honour that. My role is to support you, as you begin to process the pain of estrangement and begin to heal.
Together, we can work through:
- Feelings of guilt and emotional responsibility
- The sense of loss and abandonment
- Rebuilding self-worth and identity
- Navigating life without parental connection
You are not alone. You deserve support, understanding, and a path forward that honours your truth.

Common Questions About Counselling at Elbee.
Have more questions? Visit our complete FAQ page for detailed information about counselling at Elbee Counselling.
What is integrative counselling?
Integrative counselling means I'm qualified in various therapeutic approaches and can tailor our sessions to your needs. I primarily use Person-Centred counselling, where you lead the sessions and I guide you, whilst providing a safe, non-judgemental space. When appropriate, I may introduce elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) or TA (Transactional Analysis) to help with specific challenges.
What's the difference between online and face to face counselling?
Both are equally effective therapeutic approaches. Online counselling offers flexibility and the comfort of your own space via secure Google Meet video sessions. Face to face counselling provides an in person connection, in a private, comfortable counselling room in Stockport. Many clients choose based on convenience, personal preference, or what feels safest for them.
Do you specialise in certain issues?
Yes. While I support people with a wide range of issues, I have particular expertise and passion for self-worth struggles, men's mental health, menopause, supporting estranged adult children, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and anger management. My personal and professional experience allows me to understand these challenges deeply.
How do I get started?
Start with a free 15-minute discovery call, where you can ask questions and learn about the counselling process with no obligation. If it feels right, you can then book your first full 50-minute session online or contact me directly for availability.
